Rally lighting

Night stages are where lighting stops being an accessory. The useful measurement is not raw lumens but the shape of the beam — a spread that shows the edges of the road and a pencil that reaches far enough to read a corner at speed. The second problem is electrical: a serious light bar draws real current, and the loom, relay and alternator have to carry it.
What actually decides it
- Mix beam patterns. All-spot lighting reaches a long way and tells you nothing about where the road edge is.
- Mounting is the failure point on gravel. Vibration kills lights and brackets long before the LEDs give up.
- Budget for the loom and a relay, and check the alternator has the headroom before adding a bar.
