Bega Valley Rally 2026: 15th Outright in Our AMSAG Debut

The #44 Shakewell Racing Subaru Impreza sliding through a gravel corner at the 2026 Bega Valley Rally

The Bega Valley Rally has been running for more than 50 years, which makes it one of the oldest rally events in the country. For 2026 it was a round of the AMSAG Southern Cross Rally Series, and it was our first time competing in the series — so we drove down to the NSW far South Coast not quite sure what to expect.

A strong start

We got off to a genuinely good start. The pace was there early, and as the day went on we kept building into it. The AMSAG format is a little different to what we'd been used to, but the rhythm came naturally and our stage times were competitive.

Went sideways (in a good way)

It's fast, flowing South Coast gravel through the forests around Bega, and the classic Impreza felt at home. We had a couple of hairy moments — that's rallying — but kept it pointed the right way and banked a solid, clean run.

When the dust settled we'd finished 15th outright. For a first attempt at a new series, on roads we'd never seen, we were more than happy with that. We filmed the whole weekend — the Day 1 recap is below.

Up next

Bega was the first of several AMSAG rounds on our calendar this year, with Rosewood, Minidulla and Oberon still to come. Follow the full campaign on our 2026 season page or subscribe on YouTube to ride along for every stage.
